Shipping a Car From Florida to Texas

Shipping a car from Florida to Texas is in high demand all year round given the mild weather both of these states enjoy all year round. Because of the "friendly" weather in these states, weather delays are rare. About the only time of the year you have to be concerned about potential delays when shipping a car from Florida to Texas is during hurricane season and occasionally in the middle of winter when parts of central and northern Texas are prone to ice storms.

The distance from Florida to Texas varies depending on the pick up and delivery locations. If you go from Orlando, FL to Austin, TX it is between 1,125 – 1,237 miles. A car carrier can typically travel that route in three days. If a car carrier has to start in a far southern location in Florida such as Miami, and deliver a vehicle to a far western location in Texas such as El Paso, the route is over 1,900 miles and will take a car carrier around 4-5 days to travel. Shorter routes from Florida to Texas would be from cities such as Pensacola, FL to Houston, TX. That route is just over 500 miles and will only take a car carrier a day or two to travel.

The main corridors from Florida to Texas are I-75 to I-10 that cuts through the Florida panhandle and into the state of Alabama. From Alabama, car carriers will typically go one of two routes. One route will take them along the Gulf Coast on I-10 through Mississippi, Louisiana, and then into Texas to cities such as Houston, Austin, San Antonio and other towns and cities in southern Texas.

The other route will take them north from Alabama to Jackson in west central Mississippi. From Jackson, they'll take I-20 to head over to Shreveport, LA, and then into Texas to head into the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and other towns and cities in northern and western Texas.

Florida Auto Transport

We do a lot of transports to and from Florida, particularly snowbird transports between Florida and New York (and New York to Florida). There are five areas of Florida that we primarily ship to and from. Those areas include northeast Florida, central Florida, southeast Florida, southwest Florida, and the panhandle. The sixth area that we do transports for, but not nearly as often, is the Florida Keys.

The most popular shipping hub for auto transports in and out of Florida is Miami in southeast Florida. Other popular cities in the area include West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale. Any transports to or from southeast Florida, particularly Miami, we can get done pretty quickly, but of course these cities are further south in Florida so these transports will be more expensive than cities located in the northern parts of the state.

Speaking of the northern part of the state, Jacksonville in the northeast section of the state is a great car shipping location! In fact, it's one of the better car shipping locations in Florida.

The major cities in central Florida such as Orlando, Daytona Beach, Ocala, Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Lakeland are all great car shipping locations.

In the southwest Florida, the cities of Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Naples are all solid car shipping locations as well. Again, keep in mind that the further south you go down into Florida, the more your transport will be so Naples will be more expensive than Tampa, for example.

Heading back up north to the panhandle, Tallahassee is the best car shipping location in the panhandle, but the rest of the cities along the panhandle are hit or miss depending on the shipping location on the other side of the transport. Car carriers shy away from the panhandle unless they are shipping to or from the cities in the panhandle, such as Panama City and Pensacola, to or from cities along I-10 in the southern part of the country. I-10 is a busy cross-country trucking corridor that runs through the panhandle and through Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Otherwise if you are shipping to or from the panhandle cities to or from the northwest, north, or northeast, these transports can be challenging at times (can take more time and more money to complete).

The most challenging area to ship to or from Florida is the Florida Keys. While we can certainly do these transports, we rarely do them as so few people are going to or from the Keys with their vehicles. Shipping to or from any of the cities along the Keys (Key Largo, Marathon, Key West) will be your most expensive transport options in Florida. You can save a lot of money shipping to or from the Keys by meeting a carrier in Miami instead!

One other interesting note about carriers that do Florida auto transports, they rarely serve both coasts of Florida with the same truck load. A carrier will either do all his transports along either the west or east coast on one trip, and then the other coast on another trip. He will rarely pick up and deliver vehicles on both coasts on the same trip. That means if your vehicle is being picked up or delivered in Miami, for example, that carrier will be traveling along the east coast of Florida with his current load of vehicles.

As a door-to-door auto transporter, we can ship to and from any location in Florida. It doesn’t matter if you’re shipping to or from Key Largo or Jacksonville or anywhere in between, we can handle it! Texas Auto Transport

Texas is the second most populated state in the country with over 29 million people spread out over 268,596 square miles! To say there is a demand for car shipping services in Texas is an understatement. The fastest and cheapest transports are going to be to and from the heavily populated cities of Fort Worth, Dallas, Arlington, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. If you look at these cities on the map, they form a triangle. If you stay in that triangle, you'll be in great shape when shipping a car to or from Texas!

Other solid car shipping locations in the state are those cities along I-20, which is a major trucking corridor into the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Those cities include Odessa, Midland, and Abilene. These are all good car shipping locations in Texas.

As we look at the challenging car shipping locations in Texas, let's start with the least challenging. El Paso on the far western edge of the state, and Lubbock and Amarillo up in the panhandle, can all be challenging at times depending on the location of the other side of the transport route. We don't do a lot of transports to or from these locations, but when they do come up, they usually aren't too challenging but sometimes they can be. In short, these aren't the best locations, but they certainly aren't the worst either.

The most challenging car shipping locations in Texas are going to be those locations south of the I-10 corridor, especially those locations near the Texas/Mexico border. Those locations south of I-10 are the least travelled parts of the state for car carriers, especially the further south you get. These transports always take more time and money compared to other parts of the state. While certain carriers do run south of I-10 down into Corpus Christi and even further south along the Gulf Coast on the eastern side of Texas, there just aren't that many that do.
