We ship cars frequently from Florida to Ohio, especially when the snowbirds return to Ohio in early spring. If you’re not familiar with the term “snowbird,” these are residents in the northern states that head south in late fall to states like Florida for the winter, and then return to their northern states in early spring. Other popular snowbird routes are from FL to NJ and FL to NY.
As you can imagine, the demand is highest for car shipments going from Florida to Ohio in early spring when all these snowbirds head back north. Because of the high demand, this is the most expensive time of the year to ship a car from Florida to Ohio.
The cheapest time of the year to ship a car from Florida to Ohio is in late fall. The reason for this is because the demand for car shipments going this direction in late fall is at the lowest.

We do a lot of transports to and from Florida, particularly snowbird transports between Florida and New York (and New York to Florida). There are five areas of Florida that we primarily ship to and from. Those areas include northeast Florida, central Florida, southeast Florida, southwest Florida, and the panhandle. The sixth area that we do transports for, but not nearly as often, is the Florida Keys.
The most popular shipping hub for auto transports in and out of Florida is Miami in southeast Florida. Other popular cities in the area include West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale. Any transports to or from southeast Florida, particularly Miami, we can get done pretty quickly, but of course these cities are further south in Florida so these transports will be more expensive than cities located in the northern parts of the state.
Speaking of the northern part of the state, Jacksonville in the northeast section of the state is a great car shipping location! In fact, it's one of the better car shipping locations in Florida.
The major cities in central Florida such as Orlando, Daytona Beach, Ocala, Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Lakeland are all great car shipping locations.
In the southwest Florida, the cities of Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Naples are all solid car shipping locations as well. Again, keep in mind that the further south you go down into Florida, the more your transport will be so Naples will be more expensive than Tampa, for example.
Heading back up north to the panhandle, Tallahassee is the best car shipping location in the panhandle, but the rest of the cities along the panhandle are hit or miss depending on the shipping location on the other side of the transport. Car carriers shy away from the panhandle unless they are shipping to or from the cities in the panhandle, such as Panama City and Pensacola, to or from cities along I-10 in the southern part of the country. I-10 is a busy cross-country trucking corridor that runs through the panhandle and through Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Otherwise if you are shipping to or from the panhandle cities to or from the northwest, north, or northeast, these transports can be challenging at times (can take more time and more money to complete).
The most challenging area to ship to or from Florida is the Florida Keys. While we can certainly do these transports, we rarely do them as so few people are going to or from the Keys with their vehicles. Shipping to or from any of the cities along the Keys (Key Largo, Marathon, Key West) will be your most expensive transport options in Florida. You can save a lot of money shipping to or from the Keys by meeting a carrier in Miami instead!
One other interesting note about carriers that do Florida auto transports, they rarely serve both coasts of Florida with the same truck load. A carrier will either do all his transports along either the west or east coast on one trip, and then the other coast on another trip. He will rarely pick up and deliver vehicles on both coasts on the same trip. That means if your vehicle is being picked up or delivered in Miami, for example, that carrier will be traveling along the east coast of Florida with his current load of vehicles.
As a door-to-door auto transporter, we can ship to and from any location in Florida. It doesn’t matter if you’re shipping to or from Key Largo or Jacksonville or anywhere in between, we can handle it! Ohio auto transports are fairly common for us. Some locations are better than others when it comes to shipping cars to or from Ohio. Let’s start by taking a look at the best car shipping locations in Ohio.
I-90 is a well-travelled west/east trucking lane that cuts across near the northern border of Ohio. This popular interstate connects the northeast states of Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire with the pacific northwest states of Idaho and Washington. Any location along or near I-90 is going to be your best options. Those locations would include the cities of Cleveland, Akron, and Toledo. These are going to be your best car shipping locations in Ohio.
The next best car shipping location in Ohio is Columbus. With its central location in the state and two interstates passing through it, I-70 and I-71, it is a popular stop for car carriers.
Finally, Cincinnati in far southwest Ohio, can be a good car shipping location depending on the car shipping location on the other end of the transport.
Those most difficult car shipping locations are in south central and southeast Ohio. If you look at a map of Ohio you’ll notice two things about these areas. They aren’t served by interstates, and they are dominated by the Wayne National Forest. As a result, these are areas in Ohio that car carriers aren’t travelling to or from regularly. You’ll pay more and it may take more time for transports going to or from these areas.
