Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to customers (Customer) of J & S Transportation (J&S). Your use of this website to place your order online or by telephone signifies your agreement to the following Terms and Conditions.

1. J&S agrees to transport vehicle(s) that are described in the transportation quote provided on or about the dates requested. J&S agrees to make every reasonable effort to comply with pickup and deliveries in the most timely manner. However, given the nature of trucking, J&S cannot guarantee specific times and dates of pickup and delivery. Unexpected delays can occur due to weather, traffic, construction, truck break downs, etc.

2. Shipping timeframes and rates are subject to change if there is severe weather that impacts the Customer’s shipping route. This is mostly applicable in the winter but can apply at other times of the year as well (i.e. hurricanes, tornadoes, severe thunderstorms). If the transport is impacted by severe weather, J&S will notify the Customer immediately.

3. If J&S does not have one of their own trucks in the area of shipment, J&S at their discretion will subcontract the transport (will broker it out). J&S will remain the main point of contact. J&S and its subcontractors are not liable for any claim or loss of services in the event of late pickups or deliveries. J&S website or staff may provide a forecast of delivery time with a likely minimum and maximum number of days to delivery, starting from the date the Customer’s vehicle is available for pickup.

4. The Customer authorizing transport is the legal owner and /or has permission to transport the vehicle. J&S will not be held liable for any transportation of stolen vehicles.

5. Any misrepresentation of the vehicle may be subject to additional charges payable by the Customer.

6. It is understood and acknowledged that if the transporter (J&S or subcontractors) is unable to meet the Customer at their desired location for pickup or delivery, then another safe and secure location must be available for the transporter.

7. It is understood that J&S or its subcontractors will not be liable for or reimburse any auto rentals, storage fees, or any other additional expenses incurred.

8. Customer understands and acknowledges that if a damage claim is filed, insurance coverage will come from J&S if the transport is completed by a J&S truck. Otherwise, insurance coverage will come from the carrier that J&S subcontracts to in a broker relationship.

9. We allow ONE suitcase, duffle bag, tote, or box of personal belongings up to 100 lbs. for free. Every additional suitcase, duffle bag, tote, or box (up to 100 lbs.) is an additional $100. The total weight of personal belongings cannot exceed 400 lbs. You also agree to all the terms outlined on our personal belongings policy.

10. Customer agrees and acknowledges that the vehicle must be ready for transport and follow all criteria outlined on website. J&S and any subcontractors are not responsible for any personal property left in the vehicle.

11. In no event shall J&S or its agents be liable for any damage to vehicles except for damages to vehicles actually transported and only to the extent that such damages were caused by negligence or misconduct. All Bill of Ladings must have signature at time of pickup and delivery and any such damage must be notated on the Bill of Lading. Signing the Bill of Lading at time of delivery without any notation shall be evidence of satisfactory damage free delivery of the vehicle. Customer must follow J&S Damage Claim Policy when filing a claim.

12. J&S and its subcontractors are not responsible nor will have any liability for claims of the following nature:

  • Damage caused by leaking fluids, battery acids, cooling system antifreeze solutions, industrial fall-out or fall-out resulting from Acts of Nature and/or Acts of God. To include, but not be limited to: sandstorms, hailstorms, tornadoes and hurricanes.
  • Damage or loss of loose parts or special equipment when not listed on the Bill of Lading and/or when not properly wrapped, stored or secure as to prevent loss of damage.
  • Mechanical malfunctions exhaust system, alignment, drivetrain (including differentials, transfer cases, transmission, and engine) or suspension because inspections of these items are not practical at time of shipment. Also, we can neither predict, prevent, nor control when mechanical failures occur to your vehicle.
  • Damage caused by freezing of cooling systems, fuel systems, or batteries. Protection from freezing will be furnished by and at the expense of the shipper.
  • Damages to the exteriors of a vehicle where the paint is not broken, paint scrapes 1″ long or less or an isolated “chip” in the paint is not covered. This also includes paint swirls, flat tires or missing hubcaps.
  • J&S Transportation and its subcontractors are not responsible for any non-factory accessories such as after-market stereos, equipment, phones, radar detectors, and any other personal items.

13. The quote and order process works like this:

  • The Customer generates an instant quote on our website or gets one over the phone with a J&S representative. If the Customer proceeds to book an order online or over the phone, a 10% deposit will be charged to the Customer payable with a credit or debit card. The card information is fully encrypted and stored in the J&S payment system to be charged for the remaining amount due at pick up.
  • If an order is booked online, a J&S rep will call the Customer the same business day, or the next business day if the order is submitted after hours or on the weekend. During that call, the J&S rep will verify the details of the order and will let the Customer know if there are any adjustments necessary to the transport rate. The Customer may cancel the order and get a full refund of the 10% deposit up to the point of, and during, that verification call. After the verification is completed and the Customer agrees to move forward with the transport, the 10% deposit becomes NON-REFUNDABLE.
  • The remaining balance due on the order is charged to the Customer’s card on file automatically upon the pick up of the vehicle.

14. All transportation fees must be U.S currency and be paid in full at time of pick up and will be charged immediately to the credit card on file. If the card is declined at this point a reprocessing fee of $20 will be charged. The Customer will be contacted and informed of the additional fee. The card on file is the credit card used when booking the order to process the initial 10% deposit of the transport.

15. By entering the credit card information online or by giving it to a J&S rep over the phone, it is deemed that the Customer is the legal card holder, or has permission of the card holder, and authorizes both the deposit and remaining balance to be charged to the card.

16. If you place your order online, a customer service representative will call you within one business day to verify the details of your order and will let you know if there are any adjustments necessary to your transport rate. You may cancel your order and get a full refund of your 10% deposit up to the point of, and during, that verification call. If you agree to move forward with the transport order after that call, your 10% deposit becomes NON-REFUNDABLE. If you call to place an order, a customer service representative will confirm the transport rate during that call. If you agree to the rate and agree to move forward with an order during that call, then the 10% deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE.

17. J&S requires that we are the only transport company hired. If at any time it is found that another transport company (carrier or broker) is working on the same move, J&S will cease efforts to ship Customer’s vehicle and no refund will be given to the Customer. Having multiple transport companies assist with the same move is a huge problem and only hinders the process. J&S refuses to participate when other transport companies are involved.
