“Barely operable” 65 Chevy Caprice shipped from TN to MD

by | Reviews

Gerry Monroe bought a bit of a fixer-upper, 1965 Chevy Caprice, from a seller in Maryville, TN. The vehicle wasn’t able to be driven to his home in Ijamsville, MD, so Gerry got online and started looking for auto transport companies. He found J&S and our people took care of the rest.

“I bought a 65 Chevy Caprice from someone in Maryville, TN, and needed to it get to me in Maryland,” says Gerry. “It was an antique car that needs work done on it and there was no way it was going to make it if I tried to drive it here.”

“I have not shipped a car in the past so I did a Google search and J&S was at the very top of the Google results. I’ve worked with search engines a lot, and when somebody manages to get their name at the very top of the search results, that told me you put some thought into what you’re doing. So I was kind of impressed with that”

Your website was well put together and coherent and it basically answered all the questions I had right there on the website. That made me very comfortable. There was this other site, a broker I think, that sent out like five or six quotes to a bunch of different companies. They just shotgunned out everything, and I was getting calls and emails that weren’t very descriptive or informative or anything like that. I just didn’t have a good feel for what these other companies were like. But with J&S, you were at the top of the search results, and your website had everything right there; it made it very easy to understand and seemed like your company was on the up and up.

I really didn’t have any concerns or worries about the transport. I just figured J&S were professionals and knew what to do. I gave them the address where the car was, they contacted the guy they were going to pick it up from and set up everything. I had no problems with the shipping, and the delivery was quick. I think I made the reservation on Tuesday and it was delivered on Thursday.

“The car was an antique and was a clunker; I mean it was something that’s going to be a project car. It was operable, but barely so. It wasn’t exactly in great running condition and there were some difficulties getting the car on and off the trailer. It wasn’t a problem that the driver could have foreseen or dealt with. It was my fault; it was the car’s fault, it was not something that he could have anticipated or anything. The driver was polite and courteous and said it was not a problem for him. The car didn’t have enough power to climb the ramp out, so he had to do something to the ramp so it was a downhill roll for the car when they loaded it.”

“We did have some problems getting out of the trailer, too, but the driver was cool and patient about everything even though my car gave him some problems. There was a shoulder across the street from me, so he just pulled onto the shoulder and rolled it off the trailer there. The driver called me to say he thought he’d be delivering it around 10:00 and the car was pulling into my driveway at 10:06, so it was on time which was, great. I was quite pleased.

“What impressed me about J&S were the price and the speedy service. I mean, it went really, really fast. I was amazed. I have a friend who is going to be shipping a classic car and a regular car from this area to Idaho and I’m recommending J&S to him so you’ll have two vehicles to ship out of here soon.”
