When you ship a car to or from Virginia there are two locations in the state that are going to be your best car shipping options. The first being the state's capital, Richmond. It it one of the bigger cities in the state and is ideally located at the junction of I-95 and I-64. Its location along these interstates makes it ideal for car carriers going North and South along the East Coast, or for those carriers going from the East Coast to the West Coast.
The next best car shipping locations in Virginia include the cities of Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Virginia Beach. Normally cities located right on the East Coast don't make for ideal car shipping locations, but these three cities are the exception. This area is usually the last stop for car carriers hauling vehicles from the West Coast to Virginia. They'll unload here and then load up to head back to the West Coast.
The Washington D.C. metro area has been notoriously unfriendly to car carriers. Despite the population of the metro area, we don't see too many transports to and from it. Having said that, Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax are cities in Virginia that are "doable" for auto transports. By that we mean, we can usually find car carriers willing to go to and from these cities in the D.C. metro area, but sometimes these transports can take a little more time and take a little more money to get done.
As for the more challenging car shipping locations in Virginia, you'll want to avoid the southern half of the state. Southern Virginia is "no man's land" for car carriers with so many rural areas with low population and few interstates. Other challenging locations are those along the eastern shores of the Chesapeake Bay and those locations on the Delmarva Peninsula.
When you ship a car to or from Virginia, you want to stick to the bigger cities and to the interstates! Rural areas in the south and those locations along the East Coast are going to be more challenging (i.e. more time and more money to get your auto transport completed).
